"Txom Vendido" continued the tragic epic of the islands that began with "Solitário," which narrated the exodus of the population fleeing the grave of the desert sands. Like a political thriller, Figueira unveils the contours of an intricate corruption scheme involving the country’s and the island's political leaders, and the European Union. With the blessing of the United States, they wanted to transform the sandy cemetery into an international nuclear waste repository. But the beautiful Kyoko made the plot crumble. Overconfident, the politicians did not foresee that some would remain on the islands, organize themselves into a guerrilla group, and dominate the army that sought to decimate them. A twist of fate and a whim of nature end up transforming the islands into what led distant navigators who landed there to christen them " the green islands."
