Djim Job
Born in the Island of São Vicente and raised in the United States, Djim Job grew up in a family of musicians. Considered to be one of the most prominent Cabo Verdean musicians today, he has performed and produced for over 25 years in over 30 countries and across four continents.
Djim Job has performed and produced for numerous artists, including Bana, Cesária Évora, Ildo Lobo, Tito Paris, Salif Keita, Bonga, Lura, Maria de Barros, Shokanti, Mayra Andrade, Rosa Mestre, and Nancy Vieira. His performances in venues around the world have earned him the prestigious Outstanding Preservation of Cabo Verdean Culture award, presented to him in 2010 by the Prime Minister of Cape Verde.
Djim’s work in producing for artists Mirri Lobo and Dina Medina received recognition from the Cabo Verde Music Awards in the form of Song of the Year and Album of the Year (2011). Djim has always explored various musical genres and instruments but it is the bass that has brought Djim to the forefront of musical production and performance in the Cape Verdean diaspora.
